Perfectly timed for the evening commute, a signal failure hit Union Station on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. The issue caused widespread delays for Metra commuters trying to get in and out of Union Station.
The end result was 17 times as many late arrivals as the previous Wednesday, a 7% reduction in number of operating trains, and an 800% increase in average delay while in operation.
